Ariane Carde is a French multidisciplinary designer and co-founder of Atelier Fukai, a design studio that explores material narratives, environmental responsibility, and the emotional lifespan of objects. Through this collaborative practice, she investigates how materials carry memory, age, and meaning over time.
Her education in Environmental Design at UQAM in Montreal, followed by her current master's in Contemporary Design at Aalto University in Helsinki, are tools she uses to navigate the polarized world we live in by raising concerns that might spark a change. She believes the solutions she composes are not definitive answers, but encouragements and questions that invite reflection. Ariane's recent works explore remembrance, inheritance, and grief, aiming to spark conversations about death.
As our planet faces an unprecedented environmental crisis, one of our own making, it feels impossible for her to create without addressing it. Whether through materials, lifecycle, use, or emotional durability, she strives to craft artefacts that foster a positive impact on the environment and our awareness of it.
